The family is God’s idea. Starting in Genesis we read, “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and they will become one flesh.” God intends marriage to be the setting for the raising of children and further commands that children honor and obey their parents. Today we join our broader culture in celebrating Mother’s Day because motherhood is a God-given institution. In order to enjoy life on this earth children are instructed to accept and apply wisdom and direction from both mother and father.
