The Importance of Memorials Sunday, May 24, 2026

Pastor Kevin Muyskens

This Memorial Day weekend in the year of our nation’s 250th anniversary, we look at the importance of memorials. They are all around us from the gravestones in the cemetery, to the war memorial in the park, to some of our worship actions like baptism and the Lord’s supper. In 1 Samuel 7, Samuel sets up an Ebenezer stone – a stone of remembrance – to mark where and how the LORD delivered Israel from the Philistines. Memorials are important in our lives to pay respect to those whom we love, those whom we honor for their sacrifice, and to recall vital moments.
