On Pentecost, fifty days after Jesus’ resurrection and ten days after his ascension, the Holy Spirit was poured out on the believers in a manner never seen before. They were deluged or baptized with the Holy Spirit and the New Testament Church came into existence with 3,000 members. A short time later, after another miracle, their numbers swelled to more than 5,000, but with that came the attention and threats of the Jewish rulers. The response of the believers and God’s subsequent action are challenging and encouraging to all who believe in Jesus Christ.
