The Good Shepherd On Scene Sunday, June 23, 2024

This morning we see Jesus, the Good Shepherd, in action. The undershepherds are sent out, the bad shepherd hosts a banquet of death, the Good Shepherd hosts a eucharistic banquet of life where the contented sheep lie down in green pastures, and finally the undershepherds experience the quiet waters. Not only is Jesus acting out Psalm 23, but he is also declaring himself the new Moses by providing miraculous food in the wilderness and a miraculous crossing of the sea. Today we face the same challenge as the disciples: Will we recognize Jesus for who he is, or will our hearts be hardened?
