The LORD is My Banner Sunday, June 13, 2021
As we install leaders for our congregation this morning, we are going to begin a series of messages on the character of Joshua. Joshua had the difficult job of filling shoes so big that no one could fill them. Moses had led Israel out of Egypt; he was Israel’s George Washington. Today we will meet Joshua as Israel’s military general before the transition of leadership takes place. What he needed to learn, what all of us need to constantly be reminded of, is that the battle (or any other challenging circumstance) belongs to the LORD. We are to faithfully follow where He leads. Our prayer for our newly installed leaders, our continuing leaders, for each one in worship, and for the Immanuel congregation is that we will faithfully follow where the LORD leads.
