Whenever we face a new season in life it is normal for us to wonder how it will go. Will God be with me as I move into marriage, into a new job, into retirement, into singleness, into parenthood, etc.? Crossing the Jordan river was a huge step in the journey of Israel as God’s people entered a new season of claiming and settling the Promised Land. They were coming to a place they had never been and were wondering whether the LORD would be with them as they moved into more settled regions. At this crucial stage the LORD makes his presence known with a miraculous crossing of the Jordan just as a generation earlier he had led Israel through the Red Sea. The LORD is the Lord of all the earth and there is nowhere and no season of life where he does not lead, guide, and provide for us.
