Today as we walk with Jesus, we will witness what could be considered his most powerful miracle, the raising to life of a man who had been dead four days. The folk beliefs from those days suggested that a person’s spirit could linger for up to three days seeking to reenter the body, but on the fourth day decomposition had set in enough that the spirit would depart. By raising Lazarus, Jesus proves his claim, “I AM the resurrection and the life.” John presents three reactions to Jesus’ fight, flight, and faith. Where do we find ourselves?
