Aaron, the brother of Moses, was the first high priest of God’s people. The high priest “represents the people in matters related to God,” especially dealing with sin. Aaron and all the high priests brought sacrifices for sin, but they have been surpassed by Jesus who entered the true heavenly sanctuary. Even though he is God himself, Jesus is still able to deal gently with us in our weakness.
