Anointed to Die Sunday, April 2, 2023
Palm Sunday is a great day of celebration, so we will rejoice today with children, choir, and congregational song. It is important to notice that Jesus participated in this celebration day with the full knowledge that it was the beginning of the passion week that would culminate with his tortuous death. The evening before he was paraded through Jerusalem with waving palms and shouts of “Hosanna!”, Jesus declared that Mary’s extravagant gesture of washing his feet with expensive perfume was in preparation for his burial. Today he is rightly received as king, but he is a king who came to die.
