Christ is risen! What difference does believing make? John, the disciple, enters Jesus’ empty tomb, sees the arrangement of the graveclothes, and “believes.” To this point he has been a faithful follower of Jesus but with the rest of the disciples he has been hiding from both Jewish and Roman authorities for the past two days. Believing Jesus’ resurrection and all of its implications transforms him into a bold apostle and leader of the early Christian movement whose life-purpose is to persuade others to believe in Jesus.
